It seems as this is originally an all black deluxe sedan that has seen MANY miles.
The original 36 HP motor has been removed and a 40HP was installed at some point. Probably about the same time the additional taillights were added. Story is that the owner was rear-ended and he didn't want that to happen again. The rear-ender also destroyed the rear apron.
The accident in the front is eledgedly due to a high-speed meeting with a cow. It got the Driver's Front Quarterpanel, front apron and obviously the reason for the incorrect front hood.
Still... you gotta love those big-fender looks...
The last safety inspection
was done is 1987! From what I can read, almost Haloween!
The sitcker states that this is a 1956 VW.
